So you have identified your target audience.  Now it’s time to consider how to engage with them to the point they remember you.

I’m sure that you know someone within your professional circles who seems to be everywhere. Who when someone asks, “do you know _________?” and everyone says, “Yes!”  Engaging with your target audience will allow you to appear to be everywhere, despite the fact that we cannot be physically present in more than one place at a time.  This can be done in a variety of ways:

  • newsletters
  • social media posts
  • creating a company blog
  • participating in group discussions on LinkedIn
  • tweeting

For the sake of simplicity, let’s focus on using a newsletter to engage your target audience. Did you know that your Blog posts and be utilized to create content for a newsletter?  Both will serve an entirely different purpose plus engage two different groups within your target audience.  A blog, which is defined as

“a personal website or web page on which an individual records opinions, links to other sites, etc. on a regular basis,”

helps your customers find you on the first page with online searches, organically.  It can also be posted on various social media outlets for those who “like” your business page to see and share. Additionally, a newsletter is something that can be emailed to a list of subscribers.  These people may or may not be “friends” of yours on Facebook, or connected with you on LinkedIn, but they are fans of you nonetheless.

With regards to engaging your target audience, take advantage of any way that you can work smarter and not harder.
